Good Things to Come

Today I want to share one of my favorite talks with you.
On the back cover of the Ensign this month is a quote from it. I decided that I wanted to read/listen to it again. I love it!
The quote on the back cover says, "Every one of us has times when we need to know things will get better... My declaration is that this is precisely what the gospel of Jesus Christ offers us, especially in times of need. There is help. There is happiness... Don't you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying.....It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come... Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don't come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come."

Love and the happiest place on earth

This Valentine's Day I kept thinking about the card that my sweet husband

gave me on our first valentine's day together.

He made it himself, I was super impressed!

Here is the front of it:

 He found it in the BYU Universe, it was an article that talked about how love makes you crazy.. lol.

It was actually a pretty interesting article, 

but I digress.

He wrote on the inside, "Either way it's a great thing!"

And then he went on to say beautiful things of course, 

and told me how he decided what to get me for valentine's day.

Steak (my favorite) and dove chocolates (another favorite, I love chocolate).

Thus our Valentine's tradition was born.

Every year we have steak that we cook at our home,

which in my personal opinion is the best way to have steak

(especially after my dad told me his secret).

So naturally, we had a delicious steak dinner at our home on Valentine's Day!

My sweet husband gave me tulips (my favorite flower).

 The best part about these tulips is that I can plant them in our front yard

 when the weather gets a little warmer! YAY!

I made my sweet husband a shirt that says:

 It's a nerd joke, if you don't get it don't feel bad. I didn't really get it either. He told me he wanted a shirt that said that once, and then had to explain it to me.. lol

(in binary there are only two numbers 1 and 0).

I also got him dove chocolates (for both of us to enjoy). 

Saturday we got to go with the youth to the temple to do baptisms for the dead.

Afterwards we had a picnic.

The weather was SO beautiful at the temple!

80 degrees! I was in heaven!

 Most of the group,

some ate in the cafeteria and we got tired of waiting.. lol.

Laundry Room=Wired..

Well, almost.. we just have to more things to do and it will be.

My parents came to visit this past weekend and they helped us wire the laundry room and garage addition!

The amount of progress we made Saturday would have taken

my sweet husband and I about a month.

Whoever wired this house was a psycho

and I'm surprised it hasn't burned down.

At one point my sweet husband had to dig through insulation to move a wire because we

(my dad and my sweet husband) relocated our light switches.

So he finally got to test out his attic suit:

 Lol! This picture cracks me up, I think he looks like an alien!

I think they are deciding exactly what needs to be done in this picture.

 Then they set to work, 

this picture is actually after he was laying in the insulation,

here he's feeding the wire to my papa.

 Then my mom sprayed off all the insulation that stuck to his suit,

so it's ready for the next attic adventure.

My mom and I wired the outlets for the garage addition while my dad and my sweet husband worked on the lights and such.

It was a very successful day!

We are glad they were able to come and spend time with us!

Thank you again Mom and Dad!

Sweet fire chicken...yum!

Today I have a funny story to share.

Pretty much every day I text my husband when I get home from work 

and ask him what he'd like for dinner.

I love cooking,

I hate deciding what to make.

Yesterday he said, "orange chicken or stir fry."

This reminded me that I wanted to try Panda Express's Sweet Fire Chicken Breast..

it is yummy.

So I found a recipe that sounded good,

the picture looked like the real thing,

so I got to work

(Keep in mind, I was talking to my friend on the phone as I'm cooking dinner).

So I'm going along, it is smelling delicious,

when I add in the cornstarch and the sauce pretty much instantly turns into a clump....

I think, "I wonder how this is going to work out?!"

As I'm "stirring" this clump, 

my sweet husband gets home,

he asked me something about it,

and I say, "The recipe called for 15 TBSPs of cornstarch!"

He looks at the recipe and says, "No, it calls for 1.5 TBSPs of cornstarch!"

LOL!

That makes a WORLD of difference!

I threw out the chunk and started again,

this time, it turned out SO much better!

Here is the recipe, trust me it's good.

However, I think the next time I make it, I will double the sauce.

Oh, and follow the directions better than I did.. lol!

I bought a deer feeder... how do I get it home?!

My sweet husband and I love Bill Engvall's comedy.

In one of his skits he talks about how he's an impulse buyer.

He tells a story about how his wife is a list buyer, but he is an impulse buyer.

He says that he once bought a deer feeder, then he got to his car and thought, 

"Shoot, how am I going to get this home?!"

Well, we had a similar situation Saturday.

We are not normally impulse buyers, but 

we found the best deal at our favorite store,

it was so good we couldn't pass it up.

So we bought it..

and got out to the car tried to get it into the trunk..

it wouldn't fit.

We tried to get it in the back seat,

it wouldn't fit.

We thought about returning it,

but then tried one more idea.

We took it out of the box, with the help of a kind person who walked by.

Another funny story from this last weekend involved my mother-in-law and me racing to the checkout in Lowe's to decide who got to pay for three new plungers for their house.

I think all homes should have a plunger in each bathroom, 

and even more important, one that works.. lol!

In case you are wondering, I made it to the checkout first, but my mother-in-law yelled,

"DON'T LET HER PAY FOR THOSE!"

And swooped in with her card in hand and paid before I could pull out my wallet!

LOL!

Trust

This year one of my goals is to trust more.

Throughout life sometimes it gets difficult to trust that everything will work out the way that we want it to.

And to be honest, sometimes life does not work out the way we want it to.

BUT it always works out for the best.

Especially when we trust in our Father in Heaven and our Savior.

They know what is best for us,

They know what trials we need to become more like Them,

They know our limits,

They know our hearts.

If we trust in Them everything ALWAYS works out in the end.

I know this to be true, but sometimes I start to doubt,

to think that our dreams will never become a reality.

But I'm trying to always remember that I know that trusting my Heavenly Father and my Savior is best!

I know it is true,

yesterday we received wonderful news that my sweet husband's cousin and his wife became parents through the wonderful blessing of adoption!

We are SO SO happy for them and know that they will be amazing parents!

They are a great example to me of trusting in our Father in Heaven!

PS I made this sign for my nightstand so every morning I am reminded of my goal.

I love how it turned out because the word trust is kind of hard to see,

I thought about using a different color paper after I cut it out,

but then the symbolism hit me.

To me trust and faith are very similar, 

and we know with faith that we hope for things which are not seen which are true.

I need to trust that even though I can't see when my sweet husband and I will become parents,

it will happen,

we just have to Trust in our Father in Heaven.

I know the same is true for all.

Family Time

This last weekend my sweet husband's paternal grandparents were visiting,

so we headed down to visit.

My sweet husband and I grabbed sandwiches at my favorite sandwich place

and headed to the beach.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day!

I've never seen this beach so calm!

It was so peaceful

 That afternoon we had a wonderful dinner with the whole family.

It was a lot of fun and so yummy! 

 We had a great time playing with the little one,

 Playing some music, 

capturing this adorable face

 and having some sweet moments.

It is always great to spend time with family.
