On Thursday, I called LDS Family Services to see how things were coming along.

Unfortunately, both of the people I could talk to about it were out of the office at a meeting.

So I called back yesterday

and the nice lady told me that

EVERYTHING is in!

Now our caseworker needs to review our file

and then she'll call us to set up our home inspection!

YAY!


Side note, so I've been thinking about linking our blog to our adoption profile (well, when it's up),
but they recommend not including last names. So far, I've only put our last name up.
What do you think, my wonderful readers, should I change the name of our blog...
(which would include changing the url)?

Yard: Phase 1

Lately we've been working on the yard.

A few weeks ago, we got the yard graded. I took pictures of it, 

but really they are pretty boring unless you know what you are looking at. 

But now when it rains the water won't pool in the house,

which is always nice!

Next, we needed to dig trenches so we can put in sprinklers.

The ground here is SO hard,

in our attempts to find the main water line we needed a pick ax to even make a dent, then we would shovel out the little bit we were able to break up.

Luckily, one can rent a trencher.

So that's what we did; however, it was still pretty difficult.

So two Saturdays ago, we got the trencher.

We started out the morning, like I said before, trying to find the main water line.

We could see in the meter box where it supposedly went, and after several unsuccessful attempts, we just decided to start trenching since we only had the trencher for a limited amount of time.

As luck would have it, we found the water line in the very first trench we dug!

 Thankfully, before we started digging we called the water company to see what the process was if we needed someone to come and turn off the water. 

They told us to call and someone would be there in 15 minutes.

So after trying to turn it off ourselves, we called, and 25-30 minutes later someone show up to turn off our water.

At one point we had a 30 foot geyser because the water had eaten away at all the dirt around it.

I didn't get a picture because we were frantically trying to cover it so that we didn't get mud all over our brand new stucco.

I found all of this quite hilarious, my sweet husband... not so much.
But he was in good enough humor to let me take the pictures above.

So here's the guy turning off the water.

 And here's our friend who was kind enough to continue trenching for us while we fixed the pipe.

The broken pipe actually turned out to be a blessing.

We learned a few things:

1. Where the ground was SOAKED it was SO much easier to trench.

2. We didn't need to go as deeply as we originally thought.

3. If we soaked the ground that didn't get soaked from the pipe breaking it was a little easier.  

When the pipe broke my sweet husband was having horrible visions of us working until midnight to finish.

We actually were able to finish in time to make it to our adult session of stake conference!

Four!

Four years ago yesterday, I married the most wonderful man!

We had an amazing day together (before and after work).

I am so grateful for my sweet husband, who is SO good to me!

And SO patient with me!

I'm the luckiest girl in the world!

I love him!

Here's to the best four years of my life and to an eternity more!

Is there sugar in syrup?... Then YES!

I'm pretty sure Buddy the Elf came into our office the other day!

But a little background first,

we rotate lunches so there are always at least 2 people in the office during the lunch hours.

We don't always have someone up front, but there is a bell when the door opens so we know someone is there and we can walk up and help them.

Okay, back to my story.

So it's lunchtime, the office is quiet, no one is there expect those of us not at lunch,

we hear the bell and before the door is even closed the guy yells,

"Hello! Dr.?! Hello!?"

One of my coworkers goes out to see what he needs.

He brought in a pair of glasses that is missing one temple (the side piece that goes over your ear).

He has another one with him and asks if she can put it on his glasses.

"Sure," she says and she walks to the back where I am and where the tools are.

The other coworker that is there is in her office and I think about now another one just got back from lunch.

Then we hear him yell (remember there is no one else in the waiting room),

"I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I LOVE CANDY CANES! Those red and white stripes!"

We all kind of look at each other.... what?!

Then another couple walks in for their appointments,

they sit down and he says to them,

"Look at this paperclip! Isn't it neat?!!"

We are all dying in the back!

It was great!

P.S. Temples for glasses come in many different lengths (okay like 5 maybe)... these glasses he brought in, one was EXTREMELY long and the other was EXTREMELY short... lol that was also pretty humorous.

Old habits die hard... or maybe not?

So I learned a great trick this week.

If you ever want to work on fixing a bad habit,

tell your spouse about it and tell him/her that if you do the bad habit you have to give them something.

I would recommend something small because you might do the bad habit a lot,

 I told him I'd get him a snickers bar.

Well, I decided to do this a couple months ago.

Then I forgot.

Then, I did the thing I'm trying to fix,

and apologized to my sweet husband,

he responded with, "You owe me a snickers :)".

I sat puzzled for a while,

but then I remembered and laughed.

I brought home the snickers bar and he laughed that I actually did.

This little jester made us both laugh and feel happy and it helped me with my bad habit.

Plus, I got half of the snickers bar!

Win win!

PS

I am liking our house color. I think it was the shock of the color that drove me to rant and rave. While I still dislike the color of the eves, I don't mind the house and I think it will look really nice when we paint the eves.

And we've had several neighbors stop on their walks around the neighborhood and complement us on our home and our yard. We have very nice neighbors!

Yesterday, we had the yard graded (pictures to come), so we moved the boat and the trailer to our neighbors yard so their were out of the way. As we were moving them back today I heard some people walking talking about our house. It may have been that I was pretty far away and I didn't catch all of the conversation, but I'm pretty sure she was pretty impressed with the work we've done... or in the case of the outside, had done. It was very nice to hear! 

And it's been very nice to hear all of the sweet comments from all of our wonderful readers!

So thank you too!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a GREAT labor day weekend!

Friday my sweet in-laws came and picked me up, then we drove and picked my sweet husband from work.

Then we drove to my parents' home.

We spent Friday evening talking and enjoying one another's company!

Saturday morning, my dad went to my Great Uncle's funeral,

Mom and I went to a bridal shower,

after that we all headed up north and went shopping for a bit.

Then we met up with my sisters and had dinner at Costa Vida... 

my sweet husband and I forgot how much we love that place!

And they redeemed his stamp card that he's had for 6+ years!

The best part was that because they don't use that particular card anymore

they gave us a dollar off for each stamp!

Sweet! One meal was free!

Then the moment we'd all been waiting for!

We saw Les Miserables!

It was SO GOOD!

My sisters were right, I cried... several times!

My cousin and her husband happened to have tickets to the same show!

Since my sisters work for the festival, they were able to get them tickets by us!

Here we are after the show since we weren't allowed to take pictures in the theater.

Sorry Mom and bro you are blocked....

Sunday we had church and visited with more family members and I totally should have pulled out my camera, but obviously did not.

Monday we headed to do some "yard work".

It started off a little rocky.

The boat died getting it off the trailer,

but then it started up again so we figured it would be fine.

I usually am selfish and take the first turn, but I thought I'd be nice and let my brother go.

 The boat died while he was going.

Thankfully, my dad had thought ahead and invited our mechanic friends to come along with their boat,

but they weren't answering their phones.

So we drifted to a beach and played in the water while Dad fished.

They finally called us back and came to our rescue.

They got the boat working again

and I decided I was done being nice and took a turn... lol!

On both the slalom and on the wake board. 

 The boat died right as I was getting in the boat to give someone else a turn.

So we called our rescuers again and they fixed the boat again.

My sweet husband was up next, 

I promise he got some awesome air too, but I'm not quite as skilled as my sister with picture taking..

 My sister took a turn on the knee board

 My little cousin was going to ride with my sister on the knee board but decided he wanted to go with his uncle on the water skis instead.

Actually he tried to chicken out, but we practically made him go, when he was finished he had a big smile on his face and said he had a great time!

His family was supposed to come too, but they got to the meeting point right when the boat died after my brother's turn, so they swam a bit and headed home... sadly about they time they got home the boat was working again..oops.

 Then since the water was so nice, Dad needed a turn by himself!

 Then our friends' daughter wanted a turn on the skis,

she had a blast too!

 Next up was my sister!

Got up like a pro even though she hasn't been able to come very often due to work for the last couple of summers.

 My father-in-law was up next,

he was worried about getting up but ended up getting up twice in a row!

 My mother-in-law also got up like a pro!

He claims to not be a boat mechanic but he got it working like a champ!

 Mom also had to take a turn with the water being so nice!

And my little brother took a turn on the knee board. 

 We all got to take a few turns,

so what started out a little rocky, turned out to be a GREAT day at the lake!

We stayed a lot later than we have in a long time!

We were pretty tuckered out by the end...

 Tuesday morning we woke up and headed home.

We visited with my sweet husband's aunt on the way home, she happened to be in town for business, it was fun to see her and visit with her for a little while!

It was a great weekend!

We love spending time with our family!

And especially with both sides!
