Grateful

I know this a terrible picture,

and if my sweet husband saw this post he'd probably demand I erase it,

but nevertheless, it was the only picture on this computer of the two of us because I just took it.

As today is Thanksgiving, gratitude is on my mind.

I am SO grateful for the sleeping man beside me!

I love him so very much!

He is such a wonderful husband!

He is always willing to help and is SO sweet to me!

I am so blessed!

I am also very grateful for modern medicine,

even if things don't work out this month or next month or even ten months from now, 

I will be grateful that modern medicine gives us a chance, even if it is a 10% chance!

I am so grateful for family!

We have the best family!

I am so grateful for the gospel!

And most of all, I'm grateful for my Father in Heaven and my Savior!

I love this time of year!

Noteworthy

I have some news

and it is BIG.

Despite the fact that it is quite cluttered because we are in desperate need of shelves,

we can fit a car into our garage!

This will be SO nice when that awful white stuff starts coming and decides to stick around. 

Still Alive

I thought I'd let everyone know

we're still alive.

Last week my sweet husband was gone pretty much all week.

He was on a business trip Monday through Thursday,

then Friday and Saturday he was at a camp out.

While he was gone, I was a little bit under the weather so I just took it easy...

and I was feeling lazy. 

However, I did finally teach the thing I was supposed to teach at the Super Saturday I had to cancel on.

I taught the ladies how to make fabric flowers.

Lots of them.

On a totally unrelated note, I went to a sweet home decor store with my mother-in-law and had a great time.

I got a few things to make some stocking holders for our mantle...

so stay tuned to see how they turn out!

I'll stop rambling now.

I'm excited for some yummy food!

My two cents

So lately when I've been bored I've looked on pinterest for some good ideas

because there are thousands on there!

However, I've noticed that sometimes people put some really weird...

even dumb ideas on there.

Sometimes I feel like writing a comment to some people to tell them how silly that idea really is.

Here are some examples.

The first was for homemade cinnamon pancake mix,

granted that isn't the silliest idea in the world, but the caption is what got me.

It said, "Oh good! Now I'll be able to make it myself and save so much money!"

All I could think was, do you know how much pancake mix costs at the store?!

It is some of the most inexpensive stuff in the world.

The second was reusable dish covers.

The caption on this one was, "Awesome now I can reuse them instead of worrying about saran wrap."

My thought on this one was,

isn't that why you use saran wrap, 

so you DON'T have to worry about reusing or washing something!

Plus, once again, saran wrap is cheap!

Lol, sorry for the rant.

I do have to say, many many many do it yourself projects are worth it.

You can see on my blog that I like to do things myself,

but I also believe that if it is cheaper and easier to buy something rather than make it,

then that is what we should do.

We all have our own opinions though.

What are some of the silly things you have seen on the internet?

Our house is becoming a home!

This has gone from this:

Our hallway has gone from bland

(I apparently thought the hallway so bland that I didn't take a before picture) 

to beautiful:

Here is my handsome husband installing the casing around our bedroom window.

Here is what the hallway looks like from the living room through the little half wall.

We still need the crown molding in the hallway...

 I decided I was sick of looking at bare walls, so I started decorating.

Plus I wanted to pull out my pretty fall garland.

 Here is the mantle: 

The piano:

(pretty much the same from before except I added a pretty picture of the temple that my sister took)

Now my sweet husband is working on making the beam by the dining room window look like the rest of the beam (the top of the weird half wall thing..)

Here he is measuring how twisted the board is and possibly putting up the shims he had to make.

Here is the beam with the dry wall on it... notice the gaps. That's how off the beam was... wow.

It is also a fairly crappy  dark picture of the window and the pictures by it.

As you can see, our house is becoming a home!

It just feels more cozy with decorations up!

Going back in time

To 1950...

Our office dressed up for Halloween as any decade.

So chose 1950s.

 (to add a little volume to my dress, 

I wore two of my frilly skirts underneath and snitched them up as high and as tight as I could)

I won best costume (and by won, I mean someone told me I had the best costume).

I think the hot brownies I brought in sealed that one... 

but I could be wrong.
