Memorial Day Weekend

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

My sweet husband's family all got together for his youngest brother's farewell.

He leaves for his mission June 6th to Denver Colorado!

We drove down Friday afternoon after work. 

Friday night we hung out and talked with everyone that was there.

Saturday morning after we woke up and had breakfast we did some yoga!

I need to get the pictures my mother-in-law took!

My sister-in-law and I did yoga for like an hour! 

Keep in mind she is 6 months pregnant!

The boys did it for a while, but stopped after a while. 

After we showered and got ready we went and rode surreys on the beach!

 After they got a new surrey we were racing and their chain fell off!

So here is my sweet husband fixing it!

He's so handy!

 After the surreys we went and got sandwiches and ate them at a little park by a beautiful golf course, 

it's the same place where my sweet husband and I took my bridals.

 Then we went to the beach and played volleyball.

Well, my mother-in-law and I slept and they played.

 Later that day the rest of the family arrived!

We hung out with them for the rest of the evening.

Sunday we went to church and listened to my sweet husband's younger brother's talk.

He did a great job!

He spoke about sacrifices, it was really good, and what I needed to hear!

Afterwards we had a dinner with the family and extended family!

It was really fun!

On Monday we went with the whole family to the beach!

While we were there we saw some awesome planes!

 Smiles all around at the beach!

 We played in the water, played frisbee, and flew kites!

 They flew them super high!

 In the end we were all pretty tuckered out!

After the beach we had lunch and my sweet husband and I headed home.

It was a great time!

We are so grateful for all the men and women that serve and have served our country!

Without them we wouldn't have the wonderful nation we have now!

Creepers

I have recently discovered that this world has a lot of creepers in it.

If you don't know what a creeper is let me explain: someone who is TOTALLY creepy and creeps you out!

Phwew glad we got that clarified.

Obviously this has a story... or two.

Story number one, happened yesterday, and involved this dress:

I'm the one on the left in the blue dress.

It is one of my absolute favorite dresses!

I got it for the day I went to the temple for the first time,

so not only is it pretty, it has special memories attached to it.

Okay so my story.

So I wore that dress to work yesterday, 

my hair was done pretty  much the same but it was curled at the ends.

And I wore some brown wedges instead of the white ones.

Okay so now you have a mental picture in your mind.

So I work at an optometrist office,

I go into a room to test a patient's pressures and he says, 

"You look VERY pretty."

And gets like this embarrassed look. 

I say thank you, a little uncomfortable, and go about my business.

He wanted new glasses so we go out to the glasses area 

and his WHOLE family is sitting in the waiting room.

Now I feel TOTALLY awkward.

Who knows maybe he was just being nice, but it made me uncomfortable.

Also, he was about my Dad's age.

Story number two:

It involves this dress
minus the crazy glasses, the pearls, the apron, the brownies,
and the two skirts underneath poofing out the dress.

Sadly, I don't have another picture of myself in this dress and the company doesn't make it anymore so they don't have a picture either.
So use your imagination.

This dress is also one of my favorites,
I wore this dress to the temple the day my sweet husband and I got married.

This happened a week or so ago.

I don't remember what my hair looked like, but I was wearing this dress.

A man was looking at glasses and I got designated to help him 

(because he's an engineer and they can be difficult because they are very particular and since my sweet husband is an engineer I apparently can handle them... lol!).

So I walk out and ask this man how I can help him.

Please keep in mind that this man is OLDER than my Dad!

So I ask him, he LOOKS ME UP AND DOWN! And says, "I love the polka dots!"

Me: turn myself away and say, "thank you..."

This man was SUPER creepy!

He kept asking me to tell him how handsome the glasses made him look, I refused.

He was looking at sunglasses,

he picks out a pair and asks my opinion, 

I say, "Well, I'm partial to those because MY HUSBAND has those sunglasses."

He says, "your husband has great taste."

GROSS! PLEASE LEAVE NOW!

Ugh, I was so creeped out.

What is it that makes creepy older men hitting on me... I only want my husband to hit on me.

I think I'll start dressing really ugly for work and only cute at home.

LOL!

PS It is my Daddy's birthday today, he's not a creeper at all, but I thought I'd give him a shout out!

Saturday is a special day

Last week we worked on the other side of the closet organizer.

On Saturday we had big plans of getting it all installed, painted, making the drawers and installing them, and installing the drawer fronts.

That didn't quite happen but we got some of it done!

Here it is after we installed it.

 After we installed it we put plastic down and painted it.

While it was drying we went and flew RC airplanes.

Well mostly my sweet husband flew it and I crashed it...

But I'm slowly getting better.

 We decided to go home after I crashed it and it took us like 20 minutes to find it... lol.

Thank heavens for prayer or I don't think we would have ever found it!

After we got home we gave it another coat of paint.

Although I think I took this picture right before the second coat of paint.

Last night we started on the drawers. So hopefully those will be done soon!

Birthday Boy!

 This dashing man just had a birthday!

We both had to work, but we had a fun BBQ with some of his coworkers after work in celebration!

We ate lots of yummy food: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Corn on the Cob, BBQ Chicken Pasta Salad, Pineapple, Oreo Truffles, Chocolate Cake, and Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.

 And we played some lawn games.

It was definitely a success!

Sadly, I took my camera outside, but neglected to take any pictures.

I am so grateful for my sweet husband!

I love him so much!

He is SO good to me!

He works so hard for our family!

He is smart, talented, loves to learn, kind, loving, a faithful Priesthood holder!

He makes me so happy, he can cheer me up when I'm down, he listens to me cry and complain, 

he's understanding, 

and best of all

he's my best friend and the love of my life!

I am so blessed to be sealed to him for ALL eternity!

I could go on all day talking about him and why I love him, but I'll try not to bore you or gross you out.. lol.

Mother's Day

I've been wanting to give my mom and my mother-in-law a shout out for Mother's Day!

I really have the best mom! She was always there at the crossroads of my life!

She packed my lunch for me everyday when I was in school,

she would braid my hair for any sporting event I had (which was quite a few),

she did my laundry up until the day I got married... and I think she's done a few times since.. lol.

She is always willing to listen and tell me she loves me!

Many times when I would go to a camp or somewhere I would find little notes in bag, 

I love those notes! They told me of her love, her testimony, and that she cared.

She taught me how to water ski, sew, work in the yard, pull weeds after it rains, clean a bathroom, do the laundry, make delicious food, look for deals while shopping, to be content with that you have, to serve others, how to pray, how to study my scriptures! 

She taught me how to my math homework... and endured my crying... every night.

She edited ALL of my college papers, even the SUPER long and boring ones! 

She taught me how to be a mother, and some day I hope I can put those skills to work. 

I love you, Mom!

 My dear sweet husband also has a wonderful mother!

Since the day I kind of unexpectedly showed up at their house with my friend to go boating with them 

(that's another story for another time),

she has made me feel SO welcomed and loved!

With all of these doctor appointments I've gotten to spend a lot more time with her (we stay at their house),

she's gone to many a craft store and home decor store with me.

She raised 5 wonderful children, one is especially amazing in my eyes!

I'm grateful that she instilled in her boys the values of a good Priesthood holder, a good husband, and a wonderful friend. She taught them to be polite and kind. 

I love you too!

 We also have amazing Grandmothers, sister-in-laws, aunts, cousins, and friends who are amazing examples of mothers to us! I am so grateful for everyone of them!

We love you all too!

I hope you don't think this is an exhaustive list of the wonderful things our mothers do for us, because it isn't even the tip of the iceberg.

My sweet husband gave me this bag of DELICIOUS chocolates

(of which there may or may not only be 2 left...)

with the sweetest note on it!

If you can't read it, it says, 

"Motherhood is more than biological. As a daughter of God you have always been and will always be a mother. I'm grateful you'll be the mother of my children. You're the best and I admire your strength."

He always knows just what to say!

His sweet note changed my perspective.

You see, Mother's Day is a hard one for me, and many others struggling with infertility.

Last year I was a wreck and cried through all of church, 

I felt so left out but also included when I shouldn't have been.

It's hard to explain, but I want to be a mother so badly, but then I hate when they ask all the women to stand or whatever to give them their gift because I don't feel like I qualify.

A couple days later I read a post a girl I know from college wrote, she also struggles with infertility.

She and her husband adopted a little girl, last year was her first mother's day with the new little one.

She said something that struck me.

She said that Mother's Day was never hard for her because she never saw it as a day about what she lacked, but instead of what she had: a wonderful mother, grandmothers, mother-in-law, etc.

This year I decided I was going to be more like her.

I did okay. I didn't cry through ALL of church, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry.

Before and after church I was fine.

And after my sweet husband gave me that note and chocolates, I did much better.

I am so grateful for my sweet husband and the love he has for me!

Closet Organizer

I'm not sure about you, but I feel like our projects always take about 10 times longer than we plan,

oh well, at least they usually come out looking nicely.

So for the last few weeks we've been working on our closet organizer.

One week we made the drawers and painted them:

Then we installed them, installing the gliders went fairly smoothly, I was surprised.

Please keep in mind that all of these shirts took up one drawer in our old dresser to the point that they were three across and SHOVED into the drawer.

Now they sit nicely, with a large space in between them!

 Two Fridays ago I had the day off, so I decided that I was going to conquer making the drawer fronts.

I figured I'd try and if it went terribly wrong with the first one, I'd stop and wait until my sweet husband was home.

Turns out after a little research it wasn't too hard and I made them all by myself!

I was pretty proud of them when my sweet husband got home and measured them and said that they were perfect! And I could tell he really meant it!

Then the next Friday I also had the day off so I cut out the bead board and started gluing the bead board to the rest of the drawer front, but we only had a few clamps and I wanted to see how they would turn out before I glued the rest.

They turned out fine, on Saturday we glued the rest of them and sanded them.

Monday night we painted them,

last night we installed them:

It took a while to get them in, but they look nice, at least I think so :)

Now onto the next side!

Wonderful birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday,

it was a wonderful day!

I got to spend the entire day with my sweet husband!

We started off the morning with french toast, that he made for me!

I called my cousin who is the exact same age as me and wished him a happy birthday!

Then we got ready and headed to the golf course.

It was really fun!

It was also in much better condition than any of the other courses we've played around here.

Here is my handsome husband teeing off on the first hole.

 This was on the 9th hole, the sign says, "Site of Slow Play Justice",

with a noose, a little creepy.

And in case you are wondering there is a cut in the noose so no one would get hurt.

 I wanted to show how pretty it was at the golf course and the surrounding areas, 

so that's what this picture is showing.

 I was there too. 

 We played all 18,

we haven't done that in a long time.

We were pooped by the end!

We walked the course, and it was not flat the whole time, 

so it was more like we were hiking and golfing at times.

But it was a lot of fun!

Then we came home and relaxed for a bit,

worked on some projects, 

talked to some people about landscaping ideas,

and then had dinner,

my sweet husband made me a steak dinner!

Then we talked to my family for a bit, 

then we had cake.

It was pretty late by this point so that's why my eye looks funny..

I blew them out all in one breath!

It was a great birthday!
