My Sister's Wedding

The weekend of Martin Luther King Day was pretty busy for us, but very exciting! My sister got married to her best friend! They met on their missions, they served in the same place and were friends on their missions, they came home and dated other people. A year after my sister came home they started dating, fell in love, got engaged, and then got married (obviously..lol!).

We drove to my parent's home Wednesday night, we drove the rest of the way Thursday. We helped set up the reception a little bit, and then we drove to my Sweet Husband's brother's home. We had a wonderful meal with him and his family and my Sweet Husband's youngest brother. It was fun to see them and to see the kids play together! I love to see cousins play together, I always loved playing with my cousins and now it's fun to see our Sweet Girl loving her cousins!

 As we were driving to my aunt and uncle's home where we were going to stay for the night, my Sweet Husband and I stopped for some yummy ice cream! Sweet Girl was asleep in her car seat, so we just sat in the car and enjoyed our ice cream and visiting together. I love being with him! After we were SUPER stuffed with yummy food (from before) and ice cream we drove the rest of the way to my aunt's house. They moved into a new house recently, so it was fun to see their new home. We talked for a little bit and then went to bed because we had a very busy day ahead of us.

We woke up, got ready, and headed to the temple. It had snowed an inch or so during the night, but the roads were pretty clear and we made it safely to the temple. We dropped Sweet Girl off with my cousins and headed to the sealing. It was beautiful! The sealer was really funny! I loved one of the stories that he told, so I'll share it!

He said that when President Spencer W. Kimball was the prophet, he (the sealer) and his wife were invited to a dinner party with President Kimball and his wife. The sealer and his wife were invited to eat at the table with President and Sister Kimball. President Kimball told everyone at the table that his wife always makes sure that his shirt is ironed, his shoes are shined, etc. He said, "She's always riding me." About that time another person at the table said that they had just gone to their friends' 60th wedding anniversary party and they were told there that that couple had never had an argument in their entire 60 years of marriage. The sealer said that President Kimball leaned over and said, "they must have had a pretty dull marriage!" Lol! The sealer said that he wasn't telling them that they should just try to pick fights, but that having differences of opinion and working through those is a good thing in marriage!

After the sealing, we headed outside for pictures. It was SO COLD! I'm talking my feet were numb by the time we were able to leave! Lol! But it's okay. My sister and her new husband took more pictures, and while they did that, my Sweet Husband, Sweet Girl, my sweet new sister-in-law, and her sweet daughter drove to my grandparent's home not far from the temple and visited with them until we needed to leave for the luncheon. I was also able to finally give my grandmother the home videos I'd converted to DVDs that I promised her FOREVER ago (more on that later)!

The luncheon was delicious, we ate until we were stuffed again! Then my Sweet Husband and I left to go see the new Provo City Center Temple, we weren't able to get tickets, so we decided we were just going to walk around and see the beautiful temple. It holds a pretty dear place in our hearts since we went to stake conferences in the Provo Tabernacle (what it was originally) while we were at BYU. We'd planned on taking Sweet Girl with us, but she had her own idea, she wanted to stay with Grandma and Grandpa, and my parents were sweet and said she could! So we drove down and parked and then noticed signs for the tour. We thought, we might as well see how long the standby line was, we didn't have a ton of time, but we checked and there was ONE person ahead of us! So we were able to take a tour of the beautiful temple! I love the temple! It was so neat to be in two temples of the Lord in ONE day! Before the tour, we watched a video about temples, in the video Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said that heaven wouldn't be heaven to him without his wife and his family! I completely agree! Heaven would not be heaven to me without my Sweet Husband, Sweet Girl, and our family! What a blessing it is that families can be together forever!

After the temple, we ran a few errands and then went to the reception. It was beautiful! It was also fun to catch up with my cousins and my best friend from college came too! After the reception, my sweet sister-in-law and I took the girls to the hotel so they could get to bed, and everyone else cleaned up the reception, bless them! 

Sweet Girl was so silly and insisted on being with my parents or with my sister in the line most of the night!

The next morning we headed to my parent's home. When we got there we started setting up for the reception that night. It was also beautiful, but pretty chilly since it was outside. We had a great time eating pizzas and visiting with everyone!

As you can see, it was a wonderful but crazy weekend! Thankfully, Sunday and Monday were very relaxing, which was very much needed!

Winter Got Lost

I think winter took a hard right and got lost back East!

While they were getting pummeled with snow,

we were basking in the beautiful sunshine.

 Some friends invited us to the park a few weeks ago,

while they flew kites we sat in the shade of the car seat.

 We've also been going on a lot of walks!

It is so nice to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!

 This week the weather is getting colder,

so it's nice to look at these pictures and remember that it will get warm again!

 Our friends gave us some of their extra iris bulbs,

so Sweet Girl helped me plant them.

I was so excited when I realized that her adorable hat fit!

 Another fun thing we've been doing outside is gearing up for a hike we have planned in the summer.

One part of the trail requires some repelling,

so we've been going on some practice runs to help me with my fear of heights!

 It has been really fun!

Brrrr

It's cold out.

Saturday we woke up to a blanket of white

and our freeway was closed.

Which I wasn't too sad about since that meant that my sister and her boyfriend got to stay a little longer!

So we all loaded up in my sweet husband's awesome truck and drove around town looking at the snow.

 Sunday, it was still around, which is actually pretty unusual for our town.

My sweet husband and I were going to make a snowman but the snow was too dry, 

it wouldn't stay together.

Apparently, my tulips think like me, they'd rather it was warm!

They started popping up!

One of the packages did say early spring, 

but we haven't even actually hit winter yet... that's REALLY early!

I hope they come back in the spring!

 Since we couldn't make a snowman, my sweet husband wrote me a message in the snow in our backyard.

Isn't he the cutest?!

I don't really like snow, but we had a good time in it yesterday.

I was SUPER bundled up.

My sweet husband and I walked around our block
and talked and laughed

and jumped on the ice puddles and broke them up.

He put it the best way, "Snow brings out the little kid in everyone."

That's what I like about snow, playing in it
and being with the one I love.

Winter fun

Winter has never been my favorite season,

but I've been trying to enjoy it more.

Sure I may have picked one of the best winters EVER to decide to try to like winter,

but hey, I'm trying okay?! Lol!

Although, I think I may be allergic to snow, 

whenever it starts snowing I get sick 

(yesterday I spent the entire day in bed with a fever and terrible aches).

It snowed/rained all day yesterday.

It would stick for a while, then it would start raining and the snow would melt. It did this several times.

Then this morning we woke up to at least 4 or 5 inches of snow.

It was still coming down.

It stopped around 11ish, but by the time we were in our second hour of church 

(we start at 1) it was really coming down again, and has been ever since.

So after church we decided to play in it.

We built this beauty!

I don't know if you can see her arms, 

but it kind of looks like she is doing the yoga pose called Warrior 2...lol,

totally on accident I promise.

Of course we also had a snowball or snow shovels worth (my sweet husband) fight.

It was really fun, even if I got slaughtered.

 Then to warm up we started a fire in our fireplace.

 Then I remembered seeing that a friend of ours put on her facebook that she and her family roasted marshmallows in their fireplace and thought it was a good idea. So we roasted some marshmallows.

And they were delicious!

P.S. I think the key to not hating winter is wearing enough warm clothes and staying dry.

I hated winter at school because my pants would always get wet because I didn't hem them and they would drag, but once I discovered the short sizes it was so much better!

And today we got all decked out in snow gear before we went and it was totally fine because I was toasty the whole time!

Winter is here

Well, it looks like winter is here..

I was really hoping that we'd skip winter and head right into spring.

Oh well, I guess.

However, we are getting a light dusting of snow as we speak.

We'll see how much there is in the morning.

I will say there is one good thing about snow,

we get to drink hot chocolate!

We have the best hot chocolate, my mom introduced us to it.

It's the cannery's hot chocolate...

if you haven't tried it, DO!

Wichita Adventure: Part 1

I decided to make it so these three read chronologically, so then you can just scroll down and get the story the right way rather than having to scroll down and up, down and up.. hopefully that makes it a little more enjoyable to read. :)

After the wedding, we got to go to Wichita for few work meetings.

I got to go to play and be with him!

It was really fun,

and really cold,

but more fun than cold.

We got there on Monday.

We didn't have any obligations so we decided to go out to dinner and then go to a movie.

Apparently it was the coldest day they'd had in FIVE years,

knowing that now, it makes sense why we were the ONLY people in the theater!

We didn't realize that we were the only ones in the theater besides the workers until we saw two workers come in during our movie to see if we were still there, and then after we noticed that there were only three cars in the parking lot, one being our rental car!

It was fun to have the whole theater to ourselves! lol!

We saw Harry Potter 7A, and I won't lie we totally jumped in a few parts.

One day before we went out to dinner with some of his coworkers,

we were driving around and saw this:

That's right, a Coleman museum!

It was pretty cool, the front part of the store had the museum and it was a bunch of old time Coleman camping gear! I enjoyed it. The rest of it was a store.

We also found this park thing with this sign.

It made me laugh.

We ate out A LOT... by the end of the trip we were both ready for some home cooked meals, but I can't say that we had any bad food, it was all really delicious!

We got to go out to eat with some of his coworkers a several times, it was fun to get to know them a little better, and to put faces to some of the names I hear about.

Friday night we went to a Thunder Hockey game!

I'd never been to a live hockey game, the closest I'd ever been was Mighty Ducks 1, 2, and 3...

Their mascot was pretty entertaining.

He came out on this ranger several times and spun around the ice, it looked like fun!

We didn't get to see any full on fights, the refs were a little too good, but it was still fun to seem them check each other and really get into the game!

The fans REALLY get into the game in hockey!

While were in Wichita we saw a bunch of things that just made us laugh out loud.

I've already shared a few I think, the signs,

But one of the best things we saw

was a lady at the gas station.

She was wearing

a bright red bathrobe,

pajama pants,

and high heels

and she had some serious bed head

keep in mind, it was 1 in the afternoon!

Lol!

Good times.
