Helpers

This weekend we headed to my parents' home to "help" my dad take my little brother and his group on their senior ball date.
It was a sacrifice, but you know, someone had to help.
It started off a little rocky...
A tube had come loose and the engine compartment was filling up with water.
Thankfully, my dad was able to get the hose clamp back on and we were set!
The day was BEAUTIFUL!
And on our boat, everyone got up!
Here is my rad little brother!
Please don't mind my cheesy grin, but I was super happy!
I mean, LOOK at that water! AHHH!
My handsome man!
 Oh yeah!
Ahh, I love that smile! The water was a little cold, hence the wet suits.
When my dad asked us to come he said he wouldn't be skiing because his shoulder hurt too much.
I told him that it was going to be beautiful and he would cave.
Who was right?!
That would be me!
His shoulder didn't even hurt while he was skiing!
One time my sweet husband's back was killing him, he went water skiing and it didn't hurt anymore.
Thus, water skiing is a form of medicine, I think we better go every week! LOL!
 My dad is cool!
I also water skied and in honor of my momma, who wasn't there and can't ski this year because of her foot, I didn't even get my hair wet. She can ski and ski and ski without falling and getting her hair wet! She is also cool!
Then after a great day doing yard work, we headed home so the kiddos could get ready for the dance.
PS, other people wakeboarded, kneeboarded, etc.. I just didn't include their pictures because I don't really know them and I would feel like a weirdo.. lol!

Here's my handsome little brother all ready for the dance!
Thanks again for a great day at the lake!

Facts about me

A friend of mine tagged me in the Liebster Blogging Award,
and I've kind of been in a blogging rut lately, so I figured I'd do it.
The Liebster Blogging Award is a way for newbie bloggers (or part-time/ casual bloggers) to share a little bit about themselves.

The Rules Of The Liebster Award
1. Share 11 random facts about yourself.
2. Answer the questions from the person who nominated you.
3. Nominate 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers and ask them 11 questions.
Share 11 Random Facts About Yourself
1. I'm the oldest of five kids.
2. I grew up in a very small town, so small that when I went to my first prom I was related to all but two people in my ten person group!
3. I graduated with a degree in Political Science at Brigham Young University, which is where I met my sweet husband. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is working on a masters in System Engineering through University of Southern California.
4. I love to waterski, wakeboard, kneeboard.... we love the lake! And especially being there with family and friends!

5. I'm afraid of heights, spiders, snakes, scorpions, and the dark.
6. I love to cook, especially when my sweet husband joins in on the fun! He's a great cook too!
7. We love food! My favorite foods are tomatoes and steak and potatoes.
8. We love to travel! I've been to almost all of the states, and hopefully will make it to the remaining few someday! I've also been to England and Italy!
9. I love to sew!
10. I played golf, basketball, and ran track in high school. I still love playing golf!
11. While trying to figure out the last random fact about myself I looked around the room and saw my old Easter candy, which reminded me that I love peeps... but I like them when they are super hard!

Your questions (photo accompaniments are strongly encouraged):
1. (stealing this from Ashley's questions) What is the best thing you've ever eaten?
Hmm... best thing I've ever eaten... that's tough. But I think my favorite is home cooked steak!

2. What is one thing you want to do before you die?
That's easy, become a mother and raise my children in the gospel.
3. If you had $1 million to give to a charity, which charity would you give to?
Hmm... I think I would donate the money to a charity that helps out children. Or I would donate it to a college for scholarships for the average Joe, you know the ones that get passed up by other scholarships, but really need it.
4. What is your all-time favorite movie... and why?
This is a tough one, there are SO many good ones!
But I think my favorite is Pride and Prejudice... the 5 hour long one.
But close seconds are Sleeping Beauty, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Return to Me, Father of the Bride 1 and 2, Baby Mama, While You Were Sleeping... I feel like I'm forgetting some.. oh well, that's enough I guess.
5. Where in the world would you most like to travel to?
All 50 states... I'm almost there. And I'd love to go back to Europe.
6. If you could magically develop any talent over night, what would it be?
The talent to fly... lol, is that a talent. Oh wait, here's a real one. I'd love to be able to play the violin.
7. What was your favorite toy when you were a child?
I think that would have to be my baby doll. I got this baby doll when I was really little because it looked like I did when I was a baby. And because she looked like me, I decided her hair should look like mine did, so I cut it.

8. If you could see any band or musician in concert (whether they're still together/alive or not), who would it be?
Michael Buble
9. If you were to be cast in any reality TV show, which show would you want to be on?
Take Home Chef

I don't think it's still on, but I always wanted to be on that show!
10. You stumble upon a magic lamp and *poof* out comes a genie. What are your three wishes?
1. To be able to see the future.
2. To have enough money so my sweet husband didn't have to work and we could just hang out together all the time and have fun together with our children (muahahaha I got two wishes in one on that one).
3. To have our home paid off and finished.
11. What is a picture that makes you literally laugh out loud when you see it?
This one is also difficult... there are so many!

General Conference Weekend

The first weekend of the month was General Conference,
it was wonderful!
And when we got this package from my family, it was even better!
They had made bags of candy and things with different Prophet and Apostle's pictures on them,
when that person spoke you got to eat that candy!
They also included some games and things!
It was awesome!
After conference we needed to stretch our legs a bit,
so we went down to the park and took a walk.
We saw this:
A train wreck!
Crazy eh?!

Easter

The Easter Bunny hides our baskets outside and we go find them.
We always say a family prayer before we head out to find the baskets,
after the prayer it's a stampede through the back door.
This is right after everyone headed out.
Pictured above are my mom and my dad and everyone else...
More family below

Here are my little brother and his sweet little fiance trying to decide whose basket was at the top..
  it was her's... lol!
 She got it!
 My sister!

This kid loves horses... but apparently sometimes they make him angry.. lol!

 My baby brother!
Found mine!
My family!

Here is the back story about why my Mom is in a wheelchair...
Thursday before Easter I got a text from my Dad saying,
"Just so you know, Mom's going into surgery on her foot right now."
Uhh... WHAT?! My mom broke her foot a few years ago so I thought maybe it was a result or complication with that... but really I had no idea what was going on.
So I text him right back for him to explain. He mentions something about baseboards.
Then I remember that my parents were planning to organize their garage and I knew there were baseboards in there, so I assumed she was moving those and they fell on her foot.
Turns out I was mostly correct.
My Mom and my sister were organizing the garage,
my mom decided to try to organize the baseboards in this old trampoline frame they had...
it worked until it became top heavy and fell on her, she got mostly out of the way, but apparently her foot didn't get out of the way. She yelled to my sister, "I think I broke my foot."
Thankfully, across the street the local PT was helping the sweet little old lady that lives there,
he heard my mom's cry and ran over to see what happened.
He and my sister pulled off her shoe and he said, "uhh, you need to go to the hospital."
Then he realized it was Thursday and that the local orthopedic surgeon was in town,
he told her to go there and ask if they could work her in.
He and my sister got my mom in the car,
my sister called my dad, who was fishing, and told him he should probably come home.
My sister took her to the surgeon's office and asked if they could work her in, they said they could, the doctor took an X-ray and after one look said, "You need surgery."
He got her in that day!
The anesthesiologist turned out to be a member of their stake that helped with the trek that my parents were in charge of. She was most definitely blessed and watched over! I am so grateful for everyone that helped her out!
It turns out she tore the ligament that holds your toes together.
So she spent most of the weekend with her foot propped up, hobbling around in crutches, or in the wheelchair for easier movement.

Easter Weekend!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend!
We started off Saturday morning with a tribute to Grandpa...
we worked in the garden for a bit!
We planted some tomatoes (my favorite),
two kinds of peppers, and squash.
The whole gang that came to help at the garden...
plus my handsome husband... lol. This cracked me up, we were just about finished, we were watering the new plants. My sweet husband was helping dig out where the water got stopped up, but the pictures look like he was the only one working.. lol!
They checked on the trees, to make sure they were getting water.
The kids were entertained by stuffing rocks through the gate.. lol!
What a cute little grin!

Then we went down to the river and had a grand ol' time!
Swimming...
 flying kites...

 Eating and talking...
the kids enjoyed backwashing... check out that water bottle!
He had an oreo in his mouth when he took a drink... and tried to share it with everyone!
Yummy!
 Flying frisbee...
 Skipping rocks...
It was a lot of fun!
That night we had our family BBQ,
I didn't get any pictures of that because my camera is locked in a room with a sleeping babe..oh well.
But we did get a picture of my mom's side of the family that came before some people headed home.
Then on Sunday morning we took the annual pre-basket picture!
Stick around for the rest of Easter morning to come soon!
Plus, a story behind why my mom is in a wheelchair!
I'd share it now, but I really need to get ready for work!
Have a great day!
