Opposites

This last weekend we went to my parents' home

and to beautiful 75 degree weather.

We enjoyed short sleeves and a little football.

We really enjoyed time together with family!

It was very relaxing and good.

 Then we came home

and this is what we have today....

and still snowing...

Chairs with a new look

I've been working on this chair for a long time.

My sweet husband (boyfriend at the time) and I first recovered it in college,

then after we'd been  married a while I fixed a bit because it was kind of falling apart.

But then it started falling apart again, so I decided something needed to be done.

I found some video tutorials on how to make a slipcover, so I decided to try them out 

(I think I blogged about that before),

the last month or so I've been working on.

It isn't perfect by any means, but I think for my first attempt at a slipcover, it turned out pretty well.

 I finished it last night.

Then I worked on a glider rocker we have.

After I fell in love with our fabric for the second bedroom roman shades,

I decided I would use the left over fabric to recover the glider.

So I did that last night.

I used this tutorial, and it was pretty easy!

I mean I did it all last night, and I'm not usually one that can whip out an entire project in one day.

They both look so much better now,

trust me because I forgot to take before pictures... lol.

On the other hand...

I've written a few posts about things I dislike about pinterest.

I think I need to write a post on a few things I LIKE about pinterest.

On Wednesday (the day after Valentine's Day),

I looked at pinterest,

I hadn't in a while,

but I decided to look.

I'm so glad I did.

My cousin had pinned a "Wake-Up Call for Wives" article.

It was exactly what I needed to hear!

It really did wake me up! I realized several areas I needed to improve on.

This article was in response to "Wake-Up Call for Husbands," so I read that one too.

After reading both I felt SO much love for my husband.

I think everyone should read them!

This morning I read "Wake-Up Call for Couples"

and a few other articles the couple has written to help keep the romance alive in our marriages.

It is SO important to keep the love alive in our marriages,

I've always had a love/hate relationship with Valentine's Day because I feel like we should show our love everyday,
not just on a specific day.

But I love it because it reminds us to show our love.

And we have steak (that's our tradition),

but really I love it because I get to be with my sweet husband!

But I also love EVERYDAY I get to be with him!

One of my goals this year is to be a better wife, I think these articles will help me to do so.

These articles made me think about other aspects of our lives too,

I was thinking about some the activities that they suggest,

and I was thinking, we are blessed, doing these is so easy for us, we don't have to find a babysitter or anything
(however, we would LOVE it if we did).

But it made me realize a positive of our situation (and sometimes I have a hard time doing so).

However, we have learned a lot from this trial and I think it has helped our marriage to be stronger!

We are all so blessed and I think it is always nice to be reminded of it!

Read them, trust me one this.

P.S. Just an example of how sweet my husband is, currently he's on a scout camp out. Which means I that I am home alone, which he knows I really don't like. But he called me to tell me good night and to tell me he loves me. It melted my heart because while he usually calls every night when he's on business trips or whatever, camp outs he usually doesn't (because they usually don't have cell service), but his trip is like 5 minutes from our home, so he had service and he called me.

It's the little things in life!

I love him!

Winter is here

Well, it looks like winter is here..

I was really hoping that we'd skip winter and head right into spring.

Oh well, I guess.

However, we are getting a light dusting of snow as we speak.

We'll see how much there is in the morning.

I will say there is one good thing about snow,

we get to drink hot chocolate!

We have the best hot chocolate, my mom introduced us to it.

It's the cannery's hot chocolate...

if you haven't tried it, DO!

Genealogy Fan Chart

Genealogy Fan Chart

In the October 2011 General Conference, Elder Bednar talked about family history work. He gave a link to lds.org/familyhistoryyouth. I decided to check it out this morning and it showed me this really neat Genealogy fan chart of MY genealogy! It was really easy! All you have to do is sign into your lds.org account (it will prompt you to when you click on the link) and then click create fan chart! Then it shows you nine generations and shows you where some things are missing or if everything is in place! It was really neat! Maybe this will help me be better at doing family history work!
