Silly Goose

Our Sweet Girl is just a silly goose!

She keeps me laughing everyday!

Here are a few pictures to show you!

She can "inventory" a room in no time flat!

(We call it inventory because it's like she's making sure we have everything still, she does this with many things: rooms, diaper bags, etc)

 One day I asked her to smile, this is what she gave me.. lol!

 Sweet Girl is pretty picky about what goes in and stays in her hair,

one day she kept handing me more and more pretties to put in her hair!

 I'm working a quilt for my little brother for Christmas

(don't worry, he won't know, he's on a mission for our church),

so I had been ironing A LOT!

Sweet Girl grabbed the squirt gun and took a drink.

It must be an instinct thing because I remember doing the same thing as a kid!

 When I checked on her to make sure she was sleeping once, this is what I found!

 I decided to mow the lawn one day. My plan was to do it while Sweet Girl took a nap,

but for some reason I decided to try it before. I think because I realized that I probably wouldn't have time to mow the lawn and take a shower before Sweet Girl woke up. So I strapped her into the Baby Bjorn and got to work. After a while she felt like dead weight... lol turns out, she fell asleep!

I tried it again a few weeks later, and sure enough, she fell asleep again!

 I decided to teach Sweet Girl how to play hide and seek.

I wasn't sure she quite understood, but later that day she walked away and this is where I found her!

Pretty good hiding spot! Now she plays and hides in there all the time, I think she likes it because it's just her size, there is a shelf right above the hanger bar. 

 She pulled out her bin of plastic kitchen things and decided to climb on in...

 then later did the same thing at her aunt's house with a diaper box! Lol!

 That same day she took a candy bar behind into the kitchen and came out looking like this!

 She insisted on the hat and the sunglasses once to swing, I guess she wanted to make sure she was extra protected!

 Every Monday is laundry day at our house,

I think she thinks it's pretty boring...

 but she is really good at entertaining herself! lol!

 It's not hard to tell where Sweet Girl has been...

usually her signs of inventorying give her right away!

 On a trip to our favorite fast food restaurant, Chick-fil-A, Sweet Girl insisted on holding her juice by herself! She did really well actually! The only time we spilled was when I gave it to her and it was my fault!

 She loves to steal my glasses and try to wear them...lol!

Phwew, if you made it this far, I am very impressed! We sure love our silly Goose!

Veterans' Day Weekend Project

After our home inspection in October we needed to fix a few things.

One of the main ones was that we needed a place to keep our lawn equipment: lawn mower, rakes, shovels, etc.

The garage would work, but we really want to park our cars in the garage with winter and snow and everything.

And we've wanted a shed for a while, so it ended up being a good excuse.

My parents came Veterans' Day weekend and helped us build a shed!

This shed will withstand the millennium.

We started on Friday.

First, we poured footings and the foundation.

 Mostly, I watched and sprayed the hose when needed.

My Dad taught my sweet husband about the proper techniques of finishing concrete.

 Saturday morning we woke up and went to Home Depot for all the supplies.

Then we assembled the walls,

which went REALLY quick!

 Then we put them in place.

 Added some siding

Monday morning, we added a roof

 And some shingles and trim and worked on the doors. 

 My parents had to leave Monday, so we've been finishing the rest... albeit much slower than the rest of it went.

But it's coming along. 

I forgot to take a picture at each of the few final stages.

But I my sweet husband installed the doors,

then I painted it,

and Saturday my sweet husband worked on the trim, until he ran out of it, so it's still missing a few pieces.

When it's completely finished I'll post another picture.

But for now, here it is.

Please ignore the fact that the paint doesn't go all the way up to the trim,

my sweet husband is much better at steady painting than I am, so he's going to finish it for me.

Then after the trim is finished, we'll paint the trim white and install the door handles and lock and it will be finished!

Piano Recital

As promised, pictures from the piano recital.

It was a Polar Express theme so we all wore our pjs.

Major Progress

We interrupt the room formerly known as the green room progress to bring you this breaking news!

Last week my dad and my brother came down to stay with me.

My sweet husband went out of town for business and I hate being alone.

So they came down to stay with me and help me with the house!

My dad told me to make a list of things they could do,

so I did.

Number 1:

Take out the carpet in the living room area and dining room area

Take out the tile in the entryway.

Those actually went fairly quickly.

I think we got the carpet out in about 30 minutes total.

The tile took a little longer.

Number 2:

Paint the walls and ceilings in those areas.

Number 3:

Put in the laminate flooring in those areas.

Number 4:

Put in baseboards and case around the windows and doors

We are so grateful for their help!

Now all we really need to do in those rooms in change out the outlets with new ones,

put in the crown molding,

caulk some places they weren't able to get because they ran out of caulk,

putty nail holes, and touch up paint.

Then I can decorate them! YAY!

Saying goodbye to "The Green Room"

My aunt and uncle came last weekend

and my uncle thought we were painting the room green.

I almost died laughing!

Definitely NOT!

This week we've been saying goodbye to the green!

I guess it started a while before because my sweet husband started replacing the drywall.

He finished that on Monday,

then he primed it,

then we painted the ceiling and the walls .

In case you are wondering,

the ceilings are white (Behr Snow Fall) and the walls are a cream color (Behr Castle Stone).

This week our task is to get the crown molding and baseboards up.

We started painting them yesterday.

I just have one thing to say about that,

if you are going to do put up baseboards and/or crown molding,

a paint sprayer will become your best friend!

Relaxing weekend!

Like I said, we worked on projects on Saturday, but we got to do a couple other things as well.

My dear husband loves to build and fly remote control airplanes.

He's done it for a while, I think I've posted about it before.

Anyways, we went and tested one of his planes before we headed to the wood shop.

It flew like a champ!

Saturday evening we went out to dinner with some of his work friends, it was a lot of fun!

Sunday after church we stayed outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather!

His sister gave us a hammock for Christmas, so we set it up!

It's amazing how relaxing a hammock is!

Now all I want to do is lay in our hammock...

I hope it stays nice forever!

Piano Lessons

I started teaching piano lessons.

Today was the second lesson.

I'm pretty much a pro now...

lol, okay maybe not,

but I really enjoy teaching piano lessons!

I think I should have started teaching a long time ago!

I used to be afraid to teach because I'm definitely not the BEST pianist around,

but I took lessons for quite a while, and have been playing for a long time since.

Teaching piano also helps ME want to practice more.

We're going to do recitals with my visiting teacher's piano students.

She says that she plays a piece after her students,

I think that's a good idea because it will challenge me to practice as well.

Anyways, I just want to give a little shout out to my piano teachers!

They are awesome!

I had three and all were great!

Each of them taught me new things, obviously mostly with piano,

but they also taught me different things.

One of my piano teachers taught me a lot about the history of piano and composers,

those lessons were really fun because she would let us eat tons of junk food and she always had the best treats!

Another one of my teachers taught me about conducting and how to conduct properly,

actually two of them did.

They all taught me about what kind of person I want to be when I grow up (I'm still growing up).

I think you get the idea, so I'll just close by saying:

they are great examples to me.
