Things I Want to Teach My Daughter

The other day as we drove to the doctor,
Sweet Girl was in the back sleeping and I didn't have the radio on,
so I was thinking.

I started thinking about the things I want to teach her.
I've been thinking about this topic for a long time.
Probably long before I got married.

Our young women lesson in church really got me thinking about it again.
We have awesome young women in our ward,
and I get to serve with them.
Lately, we've really felt like we need to emphasize how important and special each one of them is.
Another lady in the presidency gave our lesson and did a beautiful job!
I left thinking, "I hope Sweet Girl always knows how special and important she is."
Last night my Sweet Husband and I talked more about it.
So naturally my mind was still thinking about it on the drive.
Do you think about things for forever too? I don't think it's a bad thing, just curious.
I started coming up with a list of things I would teach her and throughout the day the list got longer and longer as I noticed things people did.

So in no particular order.

1. I want to teach her that she is a daughter of God and as such she is SO special! She is destined to become a Queen!

2. I want to teach her that everyone else is also a child of God; thus, we should treat others with kindness and respect.

3. I want to teach her about our Savior. I know she knows Him. It's incredible how much she loves to see His picture. I want her to always feel that way. I want her to know that He loves her and cares about her and wants to help her!

4. I want to teach her the Gospel.

5. I want to teach her to be kind.

6. I want to teach her to respect herself--her body, her mind, her spirit, etc.

7. I want to teach her to not judge others.

8. I want to teach her to be aware of others.

9. I want to teach her to love to serve and to serve with a happy heart.

10. I want to teach her the value of hard work.

11. I want to teach her to respect other people and also to respect their things.

12. I want to teach her that other people should respect her as well.

13. I want to teach her to be giving.

14. I want to teach her to dream big.

15. I want to teach her to be wise with her time and with her money.

16. I want to teach her to be Christlike.

17. I want to teach her to love learning.

18. I want to teach her to be a kid while she is a kid.

19. I want to teach her that sometimes it is okay to agree to disagree.

20. I want to teach her to be obedient.

21. I want to teach her to really listen to people.

22. I want to teach her that her dad and I will always be there for her and that we will always love her!

23. I want to teach her that marriage between in a man and a woman is central to the Creator's plan.

24. I want to teach her that marriage is sacred.

25. I want to teach her that her dad is my number one priority, I want her to know how much I love him!

26. I want to teach her to be honest.

27. I want to teach her to have integrity.

28. I want to teach her to love reading.

29. I want to teach her to play the piano.

30. I want to teach her to pursue her passions.

I know there are more things I want to teach her. And I know that everyday there will be so many teaching experiences, I'm so grateful for those small everyday teaching moments!
