There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight, Fire Fire Fire

Well there was definitely a hot time in our town yesterday! At about 4:30 pm yesterday I went to store. Pretty much right after I got in the car the news interrupted the music with a breaking news story, it said that there was a fire southeast of the town we live in. I thought, "What?!" Well, about this time I got to the road that leads to the store, and sure enough there was a fire. I have some pretty good pictures of it on my phone, but Scott has the memory card, so I'll have to upload those later. About the time I got to the store, Scott texted me and asked if I'd heard anything about the fire, so I sent him some of the pictures I'd taken. I hurried to buy the things I needed and headed back home. I started dinner and started trying to find out any information I could about the fire, because we don't live too far from it. I even started packing some stuff I would take with us if we had to evacuate.. lol, needless to say, I was a little worried. I've seen fires from far away, in the mountains and stuff, but never this close. Fires are kind of funny because sometimes they turn quickly and you never know how fast it will make up the difference from there to my house... so anyways, I was worried. My dad who would have been a big help, happens to be on a 50 miler with my little brother, but my mom was a big help. When Scott got home we decided to eat dinner and then we'd check out the fire. That's where the following pictures come in.

This is actually looking a lot better than when I first saw it.

Dropping some fire retardant down.
Some of the aircraft that dropped the water and the fire retardant

Some helicopters going in for a refill

These are pictures from this morning. To me it looks like they got it under control, but who knows for sure. Sadly, some 40 homes were lost, but I don't think anyone was hurt. All I've read about are a few animals that didn't make it.

All in all, I feel really grateful for the firemen and all the people that worked to get the fire out, or are working on it. I'm grateful that we're okay and that the people of our town are okay. I'll keep you all updated if I find out anything else.
