Day 2 of Backpacking in the Uintas

Thursday and Friday were much more laid back,
but of course we'll start with Thursday.

After we woke up and ate breakfast we headed down to Smith Lake
(about three tenths of a mile from where we camped).
Before this though,
my Uncle and two cousins headed out to hike King's Peak.
The rest of us opted for fishing.

So we fished at Smith Lake for a couple hours.
We also played cards on the shore.
I'm not sure what the stats were while we were there,
My sweet husband caught 4,
my dad caught 1,
my youngest brother caught 1,
and everyone else... zero.
We saved two fish to eat.
The rest got thrown back.

First fish!
A little family togetherness fishing.
Uhh don't mind my mosquito net, there were TONS of mosquitoes!
My dad, me, younger sister, youngest sister, younger brother, and my sweet husband

Waiting... again don't mind the awesome head gear
After a few hours we got hungry again,
so we headed back to camp and made lunch.
After eating the fish we all remembered that we didn't really like trout.
So we decided to just catch and release for the rest of the trip.

After lunch we headed up to a different lake,
one of the Red Castle lakes,
here this fishing was even better!

I caught a dork fish.
Really the fish caught himself.
He came up and bit my line... the actual fishing line!
So I started reeling in and eventually caught him on the hook,
but not before he got himself all tangled up in the line!

I think my dad caught two or so in this spot and then decided to move.
My sweet husband caught one here.

After a while we moved to a different spot where my dad, my mom, and brother were.
While there my sweet husband another,
my dad caught like seven,
and I caught one.

My dear husband next to a glacier that would crack and fall into the lake,
it was really loud!

Seriously every view in the Uintas was beautiful!

Papa with another one,
I didn't take pictures of the little ones because they got thrown back pretty quickly.
My sweet husband told me I had to take the fish off the hook...
as you can see, it wasn't my favorite
and I never actually did successfully get one off... lol

Then we went back and had dinner.
A while after we finished dinner my uncle and cousins got back from hiking King's Peak.
It took them 12 hours,
crazies... lol.
We talked and laughed around the camp fire and then went to bed.
