Workin' Woman

That's right folks, I got a job! Well, sort of. Here's the scoop. I wanted to apply for this job at one of the elementary schools in our area, well when I went to the office they said that you had to already be employed by the district to apply for that job, but the lady told me that I could apply to be a sub instead. So I thought, sure what the heck, that shouldn't be too difficult and it would give me something to do. So I signed up. Well, it seemed just a little TOO easy, and it turns out it was. I apparently signed up to be a substitute for aides and such, not that that is a bad thing, it just wasn't what I thought I was signing up for. Oh, and I didn't find this out until I was signing paperwork.... yeah I should ask more questions apparently.

Either way though, I have a job, and I'm working on getting everything done that I need to so I can apply to be a substitute teacher because there is a difference.

I had my first subbing job on Monday, I subbed for a crossing guard, it was pretty sweet and WAY easy! I think I helped a whopping fifteen students across the street! Then I also was on "noon recess" duty, which was completely easy (at first)--zipped up a few jackets, told a few kids to be nice, told kids to swing straight on the swings so they wouldn't hit any other kids. Actually, it was completely easy up until the last bell rang for the 4th graders to go back to class, when I noticed that while all the kids were running to line up, two kids were running the opposite way. That's right folks, I witnessed a fight, and it was pretty scary actually. So scary in fact (well and the record of the bully played a big part in too) that the principal called the Sheriff! Yeah, I know! So I got to talk to the principal and tell her what I saw, and then after my other shift of crossing guard I got to talk to the Sheriff! My dad said, "I think that's what they call trial by fire." I think he's right. Well, I'm working again today.... I'm hoping there won't be any fights today!
