O Jackie Baby Dress

In preparation for a baby shower I was going to, I decided to make my gift rather than buy it. I haven't had as many sewing projects lately and I really wanted to use my new serger and get it working properly. I made a little self binding throw quilt, it was super easy! To be honest, I was a little confused at first, but it all worked out.. I just followed the instructions and voila, I had a blanket!
Since it didn't take as long as I thought it was going to, and it was pretty small, I decided to make something else too. I went to the fabric store here, hoping to find some fabric that I wouldn't feel bad buying (it's super expensive if you ask me, WAY cute, but too expensive for me). Anyways, I found some fat quarters that I thought were way cute and looked cute together. Hopefully the person I gave it to thinks so too.. lol. And all of you of course! Anyways, I got two fat quarters and headed on home. I had pretty much no idea what I could make, but I figured I could find something. I wanted to make a baby skirt at least because I really wanted to use the yellow one as an accent at the bottom (as shown in the picture).

So I started looking online trying to find something I could make with two fat quarters. I was surprised to find quite a few things you could make. I found a cute skirt and I was going to make it, but then I found this adorable little Oh Jackie dress! I was a little sad to see that it was for toddlers, seizes 2T-5T. So then I started thinking.... and decided to just try to make it for a 0-3 months baby. I have a little onzie that I use for a pattern sometimes and made my own pattern, using the skills of this lady!
I've tried making my own patterns before using her technique and it worked like a char, so I thought I'd try it on the baby dress. My only advice is to remember to add a seam allowance! I forgot and my shirt was a little tight, but anyways that's not the story I'm telling. So I made th edress and I think it turned out... now we'll see if it fits!
The true test!
